Update -- December 5th, 2008
Hey folks. I just wanted to thank everyone for their continued
use of the site and for all of the support we've gotten. I also
wanted to send out a plea for folks to please let me know if you
have a problem rather than post on the play.net forums, as I very
infrequently check those. I don't always respond to every e-mail,
but it's going to result in a much more likely chance that I'll
fix something up if you contact me that way, or through a simple
IM. I'm basically online while at work, so I may not be able to
do something about it immediately, you can at least give me a
heads-up about an issue and perhaps ask you to send me a follow-up
e-mail about it.
With that having been said, I realize there were a few issues with
the new ranger requirements, both from me not using the latest
reqs until recently and with some issues for those under 30th circle.
I believe I have fixed them up, but if you could just IM me (Olwydd)
and let me know if it works or doesn't, that would be most excellent.
Again, thank you for your continued support and I would like nothing
more than to continue to serve the DR community with as much (accurate)
information as possible.
Update -- July 30th, 2008
Today's update represents the 100th "major" update to
Olwydd.Org, where "major" is a fairly elastic term, but
one where I bothered to update this main page since 2003. Olwydd.Org has
actually been going strong since 2001, which is a fairly long time
for any game info page, with all proper deference to The Wolf Den
for being the granddaddy of DR sites that are still alive and
kicking. I remember when I first starting playing the only real
sources of information were Bristenrealms and The Wolf Den, with
a smattering of other sites around the net that contained specialized
information, but those sites had either started to fall into
disrepair or were to disappear entirely (as is the case with Bristen's
site.)
My good friend, and now mostly retired barbarian, Llwybyr and
I came up with Olwydd.Org on a whim on August 19th, 2001 and
published a very bare bones site a day or two later. Since then,
we've expanded the site to include several hundred web pages,
thousands of entries for foraging database and, what are likely,
the most popular circle calculators out there.
Llwybyr has mostly stepped down from the helping with the site,
but there have been many others that have helped me keep the site
going. I'm not going to try and name them all, but I'll call out
a few specific names because they've really done huge amounts of work.
First, I'd like to thank Sinah (aka Anoushka) who has really
taken on major pieces of work for the site and contributes more
on a daily basis to it than I do anymore. Secondly, my thanks
to Kythryn who more or less single handedly made the foraging
database what it is today and contributed her wonderfully detailed
maps to us. Third, I'd like to thank those first players that both
helped with the site and really got me hooked onto DR: Kyrberus,
Kirdaorb, Llwybyr, Quelgash, Raivin, Zeroch and Delaina. Obviously
there are LOTS of other people I'd love to thank and if you feel
like I've forgotten you, please hit me up on IM! I'm still alive.
Believe it or not, there were actual updates this time around. Most
of the spell lists have been updated. There's also a new page on
Cleric prayer messaging.
Update -- July 28th, 2008
First, I'd like to send out a general apology to people that have
submitted stuff only to find out that it's been a blackhole. I do
try and take time to respond to all of the e-mail I get, but with
not playing regularly (up until recently) and being busy with other
stuff, I sometimes just let e-mail sit and then, after some time,
I don't respond to it because it's been so long. So, I just wanted
to say that I really hope people continue to send stuff in and I (well,
we, since Sinah responds to some of the mail) will try and be better!
Today's updates are all pretty small. There was some misinformation in the
ranger training guide that was
brought up to me quite some time ago by Dustcatcher which is now fixed.
Also, there's a new ranger circle
calculator that is based on the upcoming reqs. Overall, I fixed all of the
calculators so that they can go to much higher levels. I'm surprised that
more TF people didn't complain about the caps being wrong sometimes.
Again, keep up the suggestions for us and we'll strive to keep the site
up-to-date. I'd also like to say a special thanks to Eladen for a very
generous contribution to the site that will help us keep running for
quite some time to come.
Update -- June 29th, 2008
Added a new page on Analogous Patterns. Also
we have the old Veii origami
calculator setup.
Update -- May 8th, 2008
We are in fact still alive, but this year has been a little hectic
so far, which has meant fewer updates. Olwydd.org is moving to a new
hosting site, so if you notice anything weird, please let us know.
Hopefully we'll get some more content up in the next couple of months.
Update -- January 21st, 2008
We are now introducing an interesting new tool for figuring out
titles based on skill which can help
folks sort through the nearly 1500 titles available in DR. We would
like to thank Mantive for doing much of the work to make this happen.
This is still a pretty early edition, so hopefully some updates
will come out later to make it even more useful. There have been a
number of other small changes to calculators and our sales pages,
but nothing else too substantial.
Update -- January 12th, 2008
We are now selling forged blunt weapons
by Xixist. Look for the shopping area
to be updated more often as we will be doing market tables in Crossing
once a week. And, thanks to Naeya, the information on Guild Leaders
is now updated.
Update -- January 5th, 2008
Happy New Year! With the new year, comes some new updates. We now have
a much improved moon mage
constellations page that includes a great deal of good information.
Thanks to Celiviel for providing this information for us. Furthermore,
we also have a page on Manipulative
Resolve for warrior mages. We should have a few more updates for
the next week as well.
Update -- November 18th, 2007
It's time for the annual cleaning of the vaults. Please take a look
in our shopping area for all of the
nifty stuff you can get.
